Democrats all over the country felt the heat in yesterday’s round of local and state elections. In Central Virginia, Democratic incumbent David Toscano ran unopposed last term, but this year faced a challenger for his seat in the 57th district of the state House of Delegates. Independent Party candidate Robert Brandon Smith the Third campaigned on a platform of smarter urban development and transportation policy. He’s very visible and active in downtown Charlottesville so, even though he’s homeless, he secured enough signatures to be added to the ballot.
