Today on Home Grown, David rides solo and front loads a much needed and well-felt rant at the start of a broad ranging show. First, we have Art Beltrone, co-founder of The Vietnam Graffiti Project. He’s spent years collecting graffiti from Vietnam soldiers. Hear him talk about his and his wife’s efforts to collect and save these pieces of folk art and their significance. Then, go see his talk at the Nothside Branch of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. Then we welcome Greg Ward with bassist Gabe Gavin from The Greg Ward Project. They strap on the intruments and give us a taste of the music before talking about reggae and unity before their concert in Crozet. Today on Home Grown, guest host Chris Baumer joins Clinton to welcome members of The Ascendants Shankari Bowmaster and Gabe Gavin to talk about kirtan and its intersection of art and spirituality. Then they spent the next part of the show with Kevin Munro, director of The Charlottesville Community Drum Choir to talk about his love affair with African drumming and to patiently chuckle at Clinton’s Wakanda jokes. It’s two local artists inspired by decidedly non-local art forms on this week’s Home Grown: Your Show about Local Art.

Today on Home Grown, David and Leslie abandon Clinton to soldier on all alone. He tries his best. Fortunately he’s got a couple of great guests. First there’s theater powerhouse Linda Zuby. She returns to the show to talk about the musical review that she has conceived and directed for Four County Players, A View from Some Broads. Then bassist Gabe Gavin from Positive Collective visits the show for the first time. Positive Collective is opening for Mighty Joshua at the Third Annual Mighty Marley Celebration at The Ante Room.
