Coy Barefoot: Attorney General Bob McDonnell on combating sexual predators on the Internet

Attorney General Bob McDonnell joined Coy Barefoot on the July 19th edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to discuss how children can be protected from Internet sites like Facebook and MySpace.

“We’ve had some fairly shocking numbers of sexual predators that are trolling online in America, as many as fifty-thousand at any one time,” says McDonnell. Towards the end of the show, Coy also asks McDonnell about the rights parents have to be present when police interview their children.



Kay Peaslee on how Charlottesville has changed in 36 years

Charlottesville Delegate David Toscano evaluates his freshman session in the General Assembly

Delegate David Toscano of Charlottesville and Albemarle County recaps his freshman term in the Virginia General Assembly, a blockbuster session which lasted from January 11 and lasted until June 28. The conversation begins with a discussion of the rules set forth on the first day, and extends to a talk about what Toscano believes are the highlights and lowlights of the session. He is proud of the raise in teacher salaries.

Brian Wheeler on nine-story buildings in Charlottesville, Rivanna Village development

They discussed the recent approval of a nine-story building on the downtown mall. Will it change the character of the popular destination? The topic also came up during a recent Charlottesville City Council meeting on strategic planning. “An Inconvenient Truth” comes to Charlottesville

Sean Tubbs spoke with state climatologist Pat Michaels and clean air attorney Cale Jaffe to get their differing thoughts on the film.
