Tom Loach has decided against running for Supervisor in the White Hall district, but both Denny King and Kevin Fletcher have qualified to run in the Scottsville district. Coy and Brian also discuss the latest on the Meadowcreek Parkway, the recent decision by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors to set aside money for a sustainability study to be facilitated by Advocates for a Sustainable Albemarle Population. The County also wants feedback from the public on its proffer policy. Dave Phillips of the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors phones in to weigh in with his opinion.

Bob Gibson of the Charlottesville Daily Progress joins Coy Barefoot on WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to discuss the primary races going on around Virginia today, especially in the 24th Senate district. Three-term Senator Emmett Hanger faces a challenge from Lexington businessman Scott Sayre. Bob predicts only five percent of the electorate in the district will turn out for the election. Coy also catches up with Bob on Charlottesville City elections. Two independents have surfaced to face three Democrats for the three open seats. The latest candidate is Barbara Haskins, an independent who says she’s became outraged during the last city budget cycle.

Fred Hudson is the chair of the Albemarle County Democratic Party and the Fifth Congressional District Democratic Party. Hudson discusses what Democrats believe, local Board of Supervisors candidates the party is running, and the party’s changing fortunes locally.
