Bob Gibson of the Daily Progress raced back from Fairfax County to join Coy Barefoot on the September 18th edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to talk about the third debate between Senator George Allen and his Democratic challenger Jim Webb. Bob weighs in on how two debates between the two men in two days changed or didn’t change the race. Allen and Webb were also on Meet the Press this past Sunday.
Former House of Delegates candidate Rich Collins says he was not being disruptive when he was arrested for trespassing while campaigning for office outside Whole Foods. And he says he has just discovered the video evidence to help overturn his conviction. Collins joined Coy Barefoot to give the details on the September 18th edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to make his case, in advance of his appeal on Wednesday.

On September 16th, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Democratic Breakfast featured a discussion of the Implications of the Marshall / Newman “Marriage” Amendment.

Sindy Benavides is the Deputy Director of constituent relations for Governor Tim Kaine and the Governor’s Liaison to Virginia’s Latino community. Latino Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. On the first day of the celebration, Benavides joined Coy Barefoot on WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to talk about her own experience as an immigrant, as well as the diversity of the state’s Latino community.
Preston Bryant is the Secretary of Natural Resources in Virginia. He joined Coy Barefoot on a recent installment of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to discuss the upcoming Governor’s Natural Resource Leadership summit, to be held at Hungry Mother State Park. The event gathers together interested parties to help guide the state’s policies on the environment. Governor Kaine has pledged to set aside 400,000 acres of land into permanent conversation by the end of his term.

Shawn Decker is a 31-year-old hemophiliac from rural Virginia diagnosed with H-I-V twenty years ago. He joins Rick Moore on the September 17 edition of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call to discuss his new book, MY PET VIRUS: The True Story of a Rebel Without a Cure.
Decker was recently profiled in the Hook, and will be speaking at Barnes and Noble in Charlottesville on Tuesday night.

He’s the guest on the September 14 edition of WINA’s Best Seat in the House to talk about the Redskins’ chances this season, despite a 0-4 preseason showing and an early loss to the Vikings.
Over the course of the previous eight shows, we’ve talked about various GenTech tools, and how each can be used for educational purposes. In this show, we begin the process of considering GenTech applications in unison, towards a common end: a social studies end-of-unit assignment about immigration.
