Wake-Up Call: The State of Local Transportation

Lisa Horanyi joined Rick Moore in the studio to discuss a recent survey on local transportation conducted by the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission. Horanyi, Program Manager at RideShare, explained the results of the survey and how it’s prompted an initiative to expand the availability of public transportation in Central Virginia.

Wake-Up Call: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint

What’s your carbon footprint? Paul Risberg, President of Altenergy Inc., and Roger Canvendish, President of Spotsy Wind Energy, joined Rick Moore on WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call to discuss how the types of energy we use in our homes affect the environment. Wake-Up Call: The Job Search for Students

On the June 28, 2009 edition of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call, Rick Moore holds a discussion about the job market, or lack thereof, for recent high school and college graduates. Carter Hopkins, UVA’s Director of Alumni Career Services and Tom Fitch, Assistant Dean for Career Services at the McIntire School of Commerce discuss the challenges students face and ways they can put the right foot forward.

Hopkins and Fitch discuss the importance of networking services such as LinkedIn and Twitter, the changing purpose of internships and the skills job-seekers can learn to help them both today and when the all-but-inevitable career switch occurs down the line.

He joined Rick Moore on the May 24, 2009 edition of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call to talk about operating the volunteer organization, which is one of the busiest of its kind in the country. Haugh talks about the challenges of working with more than one jurisdiction, and the CARS’ future as other localities seek EMS billing and other revenue-recovery techniques.
