CRN: Professional mediator Mark Rubin

Professional mediator Mark Rubin is a Senior Advisor to Governor Tim Kaine. He was a guest on Thursday’s edition of “Charlottesville—Right Now!” Rubin is currently the only mediator serving as an advisor on the senior staff of a U.S. governor. He discusses the tools of mediation and how they are being applied in creative ways to the processes of government. Rubin tells us how mediation is opening the door on a promising new approach to creating public policy in America. We may be witnessing the future of government right here in Virginia.

    I would like to query Mr Rubin re: how he reached his position as senior advisor to Governor Kaine. And what is his role in the administration? Is his position one of mediator when needed, does he advise the governor/staff re: mediation possibilities, does he steer the administration toward CR solutions?
    I am on the Board of Community Mediation Maryland and we would like to explore what can be developed with Governor O’Malley in this regard…
    If it were possible to speak further on this issue with Mr. Rubin our board would greatly appreciate it…
