One in three women is a victim of domestic violence during their lifetime. “It’s a part of American culture,” says Ellis. The shelter provides services for both women and children.

This week Sunday Morning Wake-up Call host Sean McCord talks with Cady Garey about melding an arts background into an academic career. Cady also talks about her time as Tina Fey’s college roommate, and how she ended up inspiring one of the main characters in Tina’s first film, Mean Girls.

Cady Garey is a lecturer in the UVA Drama department as well as a UVA Drama graduate. She was featured in a recent UVA Today article spotlighting her work of using improvisational theater techniques to help commerce students respond effectively in ethically challenging business situations.
