12.3.10 Newly appointed Charlottesville City Manager Maurice Jones joins Coy live from the 22nd annual Toy Lift at Fashion Square Mall. You can now remove the “interim” from his title, as the Charlottesville City Council announced Friday morning that Mr. Jones has been officially named the new City Manager. Formal approval of the appointment will take place in a special session Monday morning, and in today’s conversation the man of the hour explains the entire process- from interviewing for the position to what issues sit at the forefront of his agenda.

 

Acting City Manager Maurice Jones is in his first month as Charlottesville’s top official. He joined Coy Barefoot recently to discuss the city’s ongoing dialogue on race.

Maurice Jones will take over as Charlottesville’s Acting City Manager in mid-April when Gary O’Connell leaves to head up the Albemarle County Service Authority.  Jones talks with Coy Barefoot about the city’s budget, the revenue sharing agreement, removing tree debris and whether or not he’ll throw his hat in the ring to permanently replace O’Connell.
