On the March 1st edition of the Wake-Up Call, Rick talks with Jeanne McCusker and Una Ezell of Home Instead Senior Care, a home health care agency devoted to keeping seniors in their own homes as they grow older. Along with local real estate expert Jim Duncan, they talk about the challenges for seniors and their families as the economy tightens.

This week on the Wake-Up Call, two local car mechanics visited the studio to talk with callers about car problems in an hour long “Automobile Discussion.” Steve Bullock and WNRN’s own Rusty Cempre answer questions about prepping your car for the winter season, what to check when buying a used car, and provide other useful information about your car. When should you take your car to a dealership versus an independent mechanic? What types of types of tires are best for your car? Find out the answers to these questions and more, only on the Wake-Up Call.

Host Rick Moore opened the show with a call to Jeanne McCuscker, who runs Home Instead Senior Care, which sponsors the Be a Santa to a Senior charity program.

Local musicians John Carden and Mary Elizabeth Forbes talk about “Missing You at Christmas” their song written in support of those overseas during the holidays. Also, Jeanne McCusker gives information about “Be a Santa to a Senior” a charity by Home Instead Senior Care.

Jeanne McCusker, the owner of Home Instead Senior Care; Larry Zippin, the President of the Central and Western Virginia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association; and Ward Campbell, whose spouse has Alzheimer’s, join Rick Moore to discuss Alzheimer’s and the medical system. Federal funding, private donations, and how you can help people that have been diagnosed are explored. You can call the toll free, national hotline for further information at 1-800-272-3900.

What will you do for the elderly this Christmas season? That’s one of the topics on this week’s installment of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-up Call. Jeanne McCusker of Home Instead Senior Care joins Rick Moore for this hour-long look at issues facing senior citizens. Did you know that fifty percent of those in nursing homes will not have a visitor over the holidays?
