Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were Tad Abbey’s guests this morning on Late for Work. They chatted and played some tunes including the radio debut of “One Short Night”. They are on tour right now with The Avett Brothers.

Jason Pollock came into the WNRN studio to talk with Anne Williams and play acoustic versions of his songs from his new album “French Girl”.  Songs include Change This and Perfect.  He will be preforming tomorrow, Friday, October 15th at the Batesville store for the CD release party of “French Girl”. Free Energy opened for Titus Andronicus at the Jefferson Theater on September 22nd!  They play some songs off of their album “Stuck on Nothing” as well as a Bruce Springsteen cover.  Listen here!

Tad Abbey went backstage at the Charlottesville Pavillion to talk with Dan Auerbach.

They discuss what goes through a performer when it is time to preform for the crowd, how Dan feels about doing what he loves for a living, and how he feels as an artist when a filmmaker uses their music.

Anne Williams had The Infamous String Dusters in earlier to chat. They talk a bit about where their band members came from in music and why to record in Charlottesville when you live in Nashville, a hint at The Festy, and some of their solo projects–including a solo song, Wichita Stomp.

Kim Richey came in to the WNRN studio to play music from “Wreck Your Wheels” and chat with Anne Williams.  Kim tells us a lot about writing, including the art of collaboration, finding people to work with around the world, and doing things outside of the normal.  She also talks about her influences and her peers whom she admires or loves to work with.

One of Anne Williams’s first interviews has returned to WNRN, bringing Carrie Elkin with him. He talks about his album in the works, “Man of Many Moons” including deciding the album artwork, renovating houses and plays a song inspired by hunting for houses. He currently has several performances in the area happening now!
