Albemarle Charlottesville History Society presents online video of Bernard Chamberlain

June 8th, 2006 | By Sean Tubbs in Video podcasts | No Comments »

The Albemarle Charlottesville History Society is dabbling with using the web to show off some of its video archives. The society is hosting quick-time video of archives of the half-hour “Community History” TV program from the mid-seventies. The show was hosted by local lawyer and Historical Society founding father Bernard Peyton Chamberlain and aired on the local access channel for the Jefferson Cable Corporation.

Thanks to a grant from the Whitney Stone Foundation in 2001, the Society has been able to digitize the archives, and is now planning to offer them through its website. You can also buy them on DVD.

Here’s an episode about the Woolen Mills and Thomas Marchant. We recently took our own tour through that area with Bill Emory.
