Tara Yellen at the New Dominion Bookshop

After Hours at the Almost Home by Tara YellenOld friends and new fans were on hand at the New Dominion Bookshop on Thursday, April 15, 2008, to hear Tara Yellen read from her debut novel, After Hours at the Almost Home.

Yellen is a graduate of the University of Virginia MFA program and currently lives in Washington, DC. After her reading, Yellen took questions from the audience.

Author S. Paul Klein at the New Dominion Bookshop

Accidents of Time and Place by S. Paul KleinS. Paul Klein developed his talent for creating images out of words in a career as a radio performer and a filmmaker. Now he has entered the literary world with a new novel, Accidents of Time and Place.

Hector Collin, the hero of the novel, is a veteran of the Korean War and a victim of the anti-Communist hysteria of the 1950s. Accidents of Time and Place tells the story of his journey from infamy to redemption. Join Paul Klein as he reads from his novel at the New Dominion Bookshop on April 10, 2008.

Andy Straka on “Record of Wrongs”

On Thursday, February 28, 2008, author Andy Straka spoke at the New Dominion Bookshop about his newest novel, Record of Wrongs. Straka gave a description of the characters and plot of his book, which is a departure from his mystery series featuring private investigator Frank Pavlicek. He discussed the research behind Record of Wrongs, including the real-life events that lend credibility to his fictional account.

Susan Gregg Gilmore reads at New Dominion Bookshop

On Tuesday, February 26, 2008, author Susan Gregg Gilmore spoke at the New Dominion Bookshop about her writing career and read from her debut novel, Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen. She then answered questions from the audience about the novel and her writing process. Gilmore concluded her presentation by answering the most pressing question of all: Just what is a Dilly Bar?
