A senior editor and reporter at the Wall Street Journal since 1987, JOSEPH B. WHITE covers the auto industry from Detroit and writes “Eyes on the Road” for the Journal‘s online edition. In 1993, White and then-Detroit Bureau Chief Paul Ingrassia shared a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of management turmoil at General Motors. They also co-authored Comeback: The Fall and Rise of the American Automobile Industry (Simon & Schuster, 1994) about the American auto industry in the 1980s and 1990s. White also contributes new-car reviews to SmartMoney magazine.

He joined Rick Moore on the May 24, 2009 edition of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call to talk about operating the volunteer organization, which is one of the busiest of its kind in the country. Haugh talks about the challenges of working with more than one jurisdiction, and the CARS’ future as other localities seek EMS billing and other revenue-recovery techniques.

Dahlia Lithwick of Slate and Newsweek joined Charlottesville Right Now to discuss Sonia Sotomayor’s appointment to the Supreme Court by President Obama.

  • Charlottesville and Albemarle County officials decide to continue pursuing a Regional Transit Authority even though they did not receive permission from the General Assembly to ask voters if they would fund an expanded system through a local sales tax. (Charlottesville Tomorrow)
  • On the water supply plan, the RWSA has issued an RFP for a full suite of studies to determine a new estimate for how much dredging the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir will cost.  The City has agreed to pay for studies that the ACSA does not want to pay for.
