Alternative Transportation in Charlottesville

Zachary Shahan new director of the Alliance for Community Choice in Transportation  answers questions about ways, besides the private car, to get around the area. Included in the discussion: competition for space on the road which leads to conflicts between the various modes of transportation, as well as the options for expanding infrastructure such as bike paths and lanes and bus routes.

  • I’ve not had a chance to hear this yet, but I’d be very curious to know what people think about our bus system. I try to ride the bus to work as much as I can, and would do it every day if I did not have to drive my child to a daycare. To my knowledge, there is not a daycare provider in my neighborhood, but I am thinking of finding one so that I can ride the bus.
