Speaker of the House of Delegates Bill Howell joins Coy to talk about the upcoming special session of the General Assembly to deal with transportation issues. The session will begin on September 27th.
“Clearly, we’re not going to go in and five days later have Virginia’s transportation problems cured,” says Howell. “But I think we will see significant steps forward.” Howell says something needs to be done to restructure the way in which the Virginia Department of Transportation operates.
Speaker Howell also talks about the recent budgeting snafu that caused the General Assembly to hold a one-day session this week to fix a $137 million error, and gives a preview of the 2007 session.
